Larapinta is an aboriginal word for permanent water. The name was chosen as the 5 hectare (12acre) property is bordered on two sides by permanent flowing creeks, both with dams and waterfalls for swimming.
It is a lifestyle property, with rainforest along one creek and regeneration of rainforest along the other creek now taking place.
It is a short walk to the swimming hole and waterfall at the rear of the property - a private and special place where you feel a million miles away from the rest of the world. There is also a large fenced lawn area where dogs can run around all day if they wish.
The resident alpacas graze in the paddock below the cottage, while wallabies can often be seen at the dam beyond in the early morning and at dusk. Goannas, echidnas and green frogs have all been sighted, along with Monty, the resident (harmless) python who lives in the back paddock and George the giant goanna!
Larapinta is the home of Neville and Glauber; Barney, Bela and Pudding the labradoodles; and all the creatures mentioned above.
