It is east facing, greeting the morning sun, but well sheltered for most of the day by a magnificent liquid amber tree. There is also access to the heated spa on the deck of the main house with magnificent views across the valley.

While the main house is not far away, the orientation of the cottage and the gardens between mean that it is very private.
There is garage parking for one car with direct access into the cottage.

The Property |
Larapinta is an aboriginal word for permanent water. The name was chosen as the 5 hectare (12acre) property is bordered on two sides by permanent flowing creeks, both with dams and waterfalls for swimming.

It is a lifestyle property, with rainforest along one creek and regeneration of rainforest along the other creek now taking place.
It is a short walk to the swimming hole and waterfall at the rear of the property - a private and special place where you feel a million miles away from the rest of the world. There is also a large fenced lawn area where dogs can run around all day if they wish.

The resident alpacas graze in the paddock below the cottage, while wallabies can often be seen at the dam beyond in the early morning and at dusk. Goannas, echidnas and green frogs have all been sighted, along with Monty, the resident (harmless) python who lives in the back paddock.

What to do? |
Plenty or nothing - it’s your call! Larapinta is a great place to relax and do little or to use as a base to explore and enjoy the beautiful Northern Rivers area.
Most attractions are less than half an hour away. It is recommended that you have a car to really enjoy your visit.

The dog friendly beach at Lennox is nearby and it is less than a half hour to Byron or Ballina beaches, for surfing, swimming, walking and people or whale watching. (whales swim north along the coast from June to November). There’s even a nine hole golf course in Teven, two minutes away!
For foodies, great lunches can be found at the Harvest Café at Newrybar, Utopia at Bangalow and the Eltham Friendly Inn. At night, eat in or take a trip to Lennox Head for great fish and chips or excellent Thai. Of course at Byron Bay there’s plenty to suit every taste day or night, plus live music on most nights.
The natural beauty of the area is all around, but there are several National Parks worth a visit. The Rocky Creek Dam and the Minyon Falls in the Nightcap National Park are less than an hour away and the colourful village of Nimbin is an experience.
As well, there are markets every weekend in one of the region’s towns, offering crafts, food, clothes, gifts and plants.
Dogs welcome |
Larapinta is dog friendly, but only for friendly dogs! We welcome your dog or dogs (two maximum), and so will the resident labradoodles, Barney and Bela.
Well behaved dogs are allowed in the cottage but it is recommended that you bring a bed for your pooch/es.
There’s plenty of area to play and the secure front patio to leave them if you want to spend a couple of hours out.

Parts of the property are natural forest and there are snakes around so it is recommended that ‘explorer’ dogs are kept on a lead.
And there is no charge for your dog - just remember to bring their food!
